MSNBC is fake news. Numerous studies have shown that MSNBC is not an objective news outlet. In addition, they have spread numerous lies on their network. In this article, I will be covering the top 10.

The mainstream media is biased. In my article “The Media Is Not Bias Myth” I use studies, campaign contributions, and survey data to prove that the mainstream media is biased in favor of the left and against the right.

The studies show that media outlets like CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC, and MSNBC are all left-leaning outlets, that frequently have negative coverage against Republicans and Conservatives.

It is also very common for MSNBC to spread misinformation to promote their left-wing political narrative.

Sharyl Attkisson, an Emmy-Award-winning investigative journalist, has compiled a list of 157 falsehoods by the mainstream media. Many on her list were pushed by MSNBC. (Check out her full list)

They say that the disinformation that they promote is just a mistake, but the so-called mistakes they make usually tend to go in one direction. They tend to promote a negative view of Republicans while promoting a positive view of Democrats.

A majority of Americans don’t believe the mistakes that the mainstream media makes are unintentional. They believe they’re done intentionally to promote an agenda.

According to the results of a Gallup/Knight Foundation survey, “70% of respondents are concerned that owners of media companies are influencing coverage to push an agenda. 57% of respondents believe that the news they view is biased, and 52% of respondents believe that inaccuracies in reporting are a deliberate attempt to misrepresent the facts.”

In this article I will be covering the top 10 MSNBC lies. Most of these lies/falsehoods resulted in hundreds, maybe thousands, of individual lies related to each topic. This misinformation pushed by MSNBC has led people to lose trust in the news.

THE TOP 10 MSNBC LIES–

1. TRUMP-RUSSIA COLLUSION HOAX: RUSSIA ATTACKED U.S. DIPLOMATS LIE

There are hundreds of examples of MSNBC pushing the Trump-Russia Collusion hoax. I can write an entire article about MSNBC lying about this one topic; but for simplicity, I’ll list one– the “Russia Attacked U.S. Diplomats Lie.”

On September 11, 2017, MSNBC falsely claimed that Russia had attacked U.S. Diplomats at a Cuban Embassy. The  network claimed Russia was using a “Super-Sophisticated Sonic Microwave Weapon.” This weapon, according to MSNBC, emitted “strange sounds” that caused brain damage to those who heard it.

This was false. None of the U.S. Diplomats suffered any brain injuries. As for the noise, identical to those made by a type of Carribean male cricket around mating season.

2. OFFICER KILLED BY TRUMP SUPPORTERS LIE

The false media narrative was that Trump supporters, during the January 6th Capital attack, struck an officer, Brian Sicknick, over the head with a fire extinguisher. This led to the officer being rushed to the hospital and being placed on life support. The following day he passed away.

In reality, he was never hit in the head by a fire extinguisher. The medical examiner ruled that his death was from natural causes, not internal or external injuries from being attacked.

New York Times and MSNBC were primarily responsible for pushing this falsehood.

Real objective and investigative journalism would have prevented these falsehoods from being reported.

3. HUNTER BIDEN LAPTOP IS “RUSSIAN DISINFORMATION” LIE

Before the 2020 election, the New York Post had broken a story of then-US presidential candidate Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, likely being involved in a major corruption scandal with his oversea business dealings.

MSNBC falsely claimed that the story was “unsubstantiated” and/or “Russian disinformation.”

It was confirmed that the laptop and it’s contents did belong to Hunter Biden. The contents on the laptop potentially point to criminal activity.

The mainstream media and social media companies were responsible for misleading the public about this vital election information.

4. TRUMP EXTERMINATING LATINOS LIE

On August 5th, 2019, MSNBC’s Nicole Wallace falsely claimed that Trump had talked about “exterminating Latinos.” She later apologized on Twitter, saying, “I misspoke about Trump calling’s for an extermination of Latinos. My mistake was unintentional and I’m sorry.”

5. PHOTOS OF KIDS IN CAGES LIE

In 2020, Rachel Maddow showed photos of migrant children overcrowded in border patrol facilities. The children were in fenced in cages, lying on the ground with aluminum blanket.

Maddow falsely claimed that the photos took place under the Trump administration. The photos actually took place in 2014, during the Obama administration.

This is what Maddow said as she showed the photos on her show–“In terms of permanent damage done to humans, in terms of the severity of the damage deliberately done to humans, the Trump administration, no matter what else they do, they will never ever get out from the shadow of the fact that they really did, as a policy and a deliberate practice, they really did take little kids away from their moms and dads… They outfitted the kids with Mylar blankets and a lump of padding that was supposed to qualify as a mattress, and they told them to sleep on the floor.”

6. HAITIAN WHIP LIE

MSNBC, the mainstream media, and the Biden administration claimed that Texas border control agents were whipping Haitian migrants as they attempted to cross the border.

In September 2021, an image appeared to show what looked like a border patrol agent, on horseback, carrying what looked like a whip, while pursuing a Haitian migrant.

Mainstream media outlets quickly jumped to conclusions about the photo without any further investigation.

President Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Alejandro Mayorkas, the Secretary of Homeland Security, condemned the Border Patrol agent. Other top Democrats quickly joined in to condemn all Border Patrol agents.

But the problem is that it wasn’t a whip— it was just the horse reins. The border patrol agent never used the reins in any way other than it was intended.

To make matters even worse, on Sept 24, 2021, Alejandro Mayorkas was notified through an email, that the photographer who captured the photo said that the Border Patrol agent was not whipping the migrant in the photo.

Despite being notified, he continued to push the lie.

Not only did the mainstream media help push the lie that migrants were being whipped, but they also didn’t cover that Mayorkas, and the Biden administration, knowingly pushed the lie.

According to Fox News, “A review of Grabien transcripts by Fox News Digital found no mention of the story on CNN, MSNBC, ABC News, NBC News, or CBS News since it broke.”

7. RED CROSS WAS BANNED LIE

On June 22, 2018, MSNBC personality Joe Scarborough falsely claimed that Trump had banned the Red Cross from providing aid to infants and toddlers separated from their illegal immigrant parents.

Joe Scarborough tweeted, “Trump’s Centralized State is even banning the Red Cross from visiting those infants and toddlers being incarcerated by Trump. What do Trump and Pence have to hide?”

The Red Cross came out and denied this claim.

8. RACHEL MADDOW VACCINE LIE

On March 29, 2021, MSNBC personality, Rachel Maddow, falsely claimed that those who had received the COVID-19 vaccination couldn’t get infected or spread the virus.

Maddow said, “The virus stops with every vaccinated person… A vaccinated person gets exposed to the virus. The virus does not infect them. The virus cannot use that person to go anywhere else.”

This is false. At the time, vaccines were believed to significantly reduce the spread of the virus, but not entirely eliminate the spread. But as more data came out, even the initial promise of the vaccine protecting against the spread of the virus was diminished.

Maddow’s lie took place during the beginning of the spread of the Delta variant in the United States. Multiple studies showed that vaccinated people could spread the Delta variant just as much as unvaccinated people.

9. BORDER CONTROL DUMPING WATER LIE

In 2018, MSNBC personality and host, Joy Reid, showed a video of border patrol agents dumping out water that was strategically left at various parts of the desert for illegal immigrants.

She falsely claimed that this video took place under the Trump administration.

She said, “We saw Border Patrol dumping water that was made for desperate migrants being dumped out on the ground. This sort of extravagant cruelty is unusual for any administration, but, for this administration, they seem to think it’s effective for their base.”

What Joy Reid intentionally left out is that the video took place on January 10, 2011, during the Obama administration.

10. LAFAYETTE PARK LIE

During the BLM riots in late May 2020, MSNBC and other mainstream media outlets helped push the false narrative that Trump ordered tear gas to be used on “peaceful protestors” to have a “photo-op” in front of St. John’s Church in Washington, D.C.

This narrative was debunked by the Inspector General of the United States Department of the Interior, Mark Lee Greenblatt.

In a report, Greenblatt wrote, “The evidence we obtained did not support a finding that the USPP cleared the park to allow the President to survey the damage and walk to St. John’s Church. Instead, the evidence we reviewed showed that the USPP cleared the park to allow the contractor to safely install the anti-scale fencing in response to the destruction of property and injury to officers occurring on May 30 and 31. Further, the evidence showed that the USPP did not know about the President’s potential movement until mid-to-late afternoon on June 1—hours after it had begun developing its operational plan and the fencing contractor had arrived in the park.”

According to another report, over the various days leading up to the clearing of the protesters, protesters threw bottles and bricks, injuring nearly 50 officers.

There were reports of looting, property destruction, assault, and arson the night before the protesters were cleared.
