Falsehood #6: Biden falsely claimed that the new Georgia voting law prevented working people from voting.
Surprisingly, the Washington Post fact checked Biden, giving him ‘Four Pinocchios’ for his false claim.
Biden stated, “The law would ‘end voting at five o’clock when working people are just getting off work’ or ‘ends voting hours early so working people can’t cast their vote after their shift is over.”
EXPLANATION: This is false. The law in question was Georgia’s S.B. 202. It didn’t change any rule that prevented people from voting. Prior to the law, voting locations were open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. After the law, the hours remained the same. There was nothing included in the new Georgia voting law that prevented anyone from voting.
Biden made this false claim to mislead people into believing that the law, pushed by Republicans, was voter suppression.
